NAMM show 2010

Well the first quarter of 2010 is almost gone, but we would like to give you guys and girls a quick summary of what’s been happening over the first few months of this year. Thump got 2010 off to a flying start by attending the NAMM Show in Anaheim California. Mark and I had a great time visiting suppliers and checking out all the music gear that the world has to offer. We also managed to pick up some great new products this year that will really blow you away. The first of which was Fleabass. Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers has launched his own signature bass onto the market with great reviews and an amazing price point. These basses will be available for under $500! That’s right, UNDER $500. We also discovered Gruv Gear. Jay and the guys over there make some really high quality equipment for the working musician. The V-Cart solo is going to change the way you transport your gear around forever. Some elegant design, and functionality have made carrying your equipment a breeze. You can check out all the specs for fleabass and gruv gear at www.thumpmusic.com.au.

We got to see and meet some amazing musicians and Mark was able to Jam with guys like Robert “bubby” Lewis (Snoop Dog), Andrew Gouche (Chaka Khan) and Norm Stockton. Over the four days we also hung out with all our friends from Mono, Brubaker and Tecamp and witnessed the new products these guys have to show for 2010. You’re going to love the new Mono gear, so stay tuned for that. They have some new back packs, straps and bags that are really lifting the bar once again on all fronts. Kevin Brubaker has some amazing basses coming out of his factory, so contact us if you’re interested in his works of art. Tecamp continues to blow us away with their light weight power house amps and cabs of which we have most models in stock right now.

While we were in the US we arranged with Matt Garrison to do some bass clinics while he was out on tour with Whitney Houston. We didn’t have much time to organise it, but it was great to meet Matt and hear him play in person. Every one that came to the clinics was blown away by his musicality and technical prowess as well as his friendly nature. People were shocked when he started handing his signature Fodera around to be inspected up close! Matt also invited Mark Peric up to have a jam with him and work through some jazz standards in odd time signatures. The night went for around 2 hours and no one went home dissapointed.

As you can see, 2010 has had a busy start, but we’re really looking forward to the rest of the year. We have some big artists to announce very soon, so stay tuned! Until next time …… Keep thumpin’
